Trinity College Arts Awards

Arts Award takes children and young people on a creative journey, exploring the arts world, discovering their potential as artists, developing leadership skills – and gaining a recognised qualification along the way. Young people can achieve Arts Award in any art form, from music to mime, poetry to pottery, dance to drumming.

Why choose this course?

  • Arts Award is a unique set of qualifications that support children and young people to enjoy the arts and develop as artists and arts leaders.
  • Arts Award helps learners develop vital 21st century skills – creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, leadership and entrepreneurialism, to name just a few.
  • Arts Award isn’t about reaching a certain standard in a particular art form. Instead it assesses the knowledge, understanding, creativity, communication and leadership skills young people develop through exploring the arts as a participant, audience member and reviewer. There are no fixed entry requirements, no time limits and no rules on how to present work.
  • Arts Awards build independence and the ability to follow a project through from beginning to end.
  • We deliver our Arts Awards courses with a purposeful aim, linking learning to possible careers and engaging young people with a broad spectrum of creative and performing arts.
  • The Bronze Arts Award is a nationally recognised Level 1 qualification which allows children to develop their research and artistic abilities in a self led, interactive way.
  • During the course they record evidence of their participation in their Arts Award portfolio. Their portfolio might be a folder, sketchbook, video diary or a website – it’s up to them. The evidence they record covers four key areas:
  • Progress in their chosen art form, having set themselves a challenge to improve their skills
  • Reviews of arts events, shared with their peers
  • Research into their ‘arts inspiration’
  • Sharing a skill with others
