Are you passionate about the great outdoors, have experience or ambition to work with children? Then we are looking for you.
It is essential that you are energetic, fun to be around, practical and reliable. Personality is more important than experience. If there is a forest school leader in you, we will find it.
You must be able to meet the parameters of an advanced DBS check.
At the moment our busy times are mainly school holidays and some weekends. However, if you display talent, we will build sessions around you and how you want to lead a group. In short, we will grow together!
The availability of work is very much ad-hoc but, in most circumstances, there will be plenty of notice.
Our days tend to be from 8.30 am until 3.30pm. Children are generally on site from 9am until 3pm.
The amount you will get paid will depend on your experience and level of qualification. For example:
Unqualified Forest School Volunteer – £50 per day
Level 1 Qualified FS Trainee – between £50 & £80 per day
Level 2 Qualified FS Assistant – Between £80 & £100 per day
Level 3 Qualified FS Leader – Between £130 & £150 per day
You will be a self-employed contractor and as such responsible for your own tax, NI and other contributions.
The time it takes to become qualified varies dependant on the level However, don’t worry too much… we are here to help you every step of the way.
We cover the full costs involved in providing you with a recognised qualification. You can also still work with us while you are training.
Level 1 Qualified FS Trainee – (up to 30 hours) This will include 1 unpaid day of training with us and the creation of a small portfolio of evidence. Suitable for ages 16-18.
Level 2 Qualified Forest School Assistant (up to 60 hours) This will include 2 unpaid days of training with is and the creation of a portfolio of evidence. Suitable for those 18 and older.
Level 3 Qualified Forest School Leader (around 12-18 months) This is a highly involved course requiring a significant commitment. You will need to attend 1 weeks initial training days followed by 3 later assessment days. In the meantime you will need to create a complex portfolio of evidence as well as successfully delivering a series of Forest School sessions.
