Children at Ambleford School follow a balanced curriculum specially adapted. They learn through practical and hands on activities which are linked together under topics so that all learning is purposeful and relevant to every child. We follow a blend of IB Primary Years and National Curriculum objectives so that academic excellence is a by-product of a happy and engaged child rather than being the focus. Learning is taught in project based units rather than as discrete subjects and this enables us to offer a much broader and more balanced curriculum including humanities and the arts alongside English, Maths and Science. Learning opportunities can be continued at home if that is right for the family but this is discussed on a personal basis.
Ambleford School is more than just tutoring to boost a home education or somewhere for a child struggling or unhappy in a traditional school to have ‘time outside’. Ambleford aims to completely redesign the education experience, moving away from bells, lines and desks and towards purposeful and expressive learning with the child and their passions at the heart of their journey. We aim to keep the spark of joy and creativity that so many parents we have spoken to find leaving their child very early on at school as the ‘rules’ and need for order take precedence over creativity and self expression. At Ambleford, we’re passionate about creating a supportive community where every child feels safe, included, and free to be their authentic self. We combine this with high expectations for behaviour, helping children to thrive in a setting built on kindness, respect, and shared responsibility.
